WhatsApp Unveils New Screen Sharing Capability
Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has recently introduced a highly anticipated feature for its beta users. The latest addition is the screen-sharing functionality, which is available to users running WhatsApp beta version 2.23.11.19. As reported by WABetaInfo, accessing this feature is as simple as tapping on the newly added icon within the call control menu during a video call.
Upon clicking the screen-sharing icon, a pop-up message appears, notifying users that WhatsApp will have full access to all the content visible on their screen or played from their device while recording or casting. This includes sensitive information such as passwords, payment details, photos, messages, and any audio that is played.
The introduction of the screen-sharing feature on WhatsApp brings it closer to competing with other popular apps like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. This feature empowers users to utilize the platform for various activities, such as delivering presentations during work meetings.
However, the usefulness of the screen-sharing feature may be more pronounced on WhatsApp Desktop, as its utility on smartphones seems to be limited.
We are eager to hear your thoughts on the new screen-sharing capability on WhatsApp. Please share your opinions in the comments section below.
